Bøkur

Journalisturin Omri Galperin, sum búði í Føroyum í tvey ár, hevur skrivað bók, har plottið er í Føroyum.

Tittulin á bókini er 'The Island at the Edge of the Ocean'.

Omri Galperin hevur sent VP enskan tekst um bókina:

Since I felt in love with the Faroe Islands and people, my family and I moved and lived for 2 years in Tórshavn and we were part of the community: the kids were in the local schools; my wife worked in the Apotek and l even worked as a cheese maker in MBM.

The book:
During my stay I did a deep research about the people, history and place. Then I worked for few years on my first Prose / Drama book which occurred mainly on the Island Kalsoy (Before James Bond 007 J) . The name of the book is: 'The Islands on the Edge of the Ocean' and has been published recently.

From the plot of the book:
On the village Syðradalur lives Jon, a young boy who has been forced to support his family due to his father's Life difficulties.

On one of his visits to the neighboring island, while he was going to sell some fish that he had caught, he met a young, orphaned girl whose only family was her grandmother and her extremely violent brother.

In order to help her in the fight against her brother, Jon and his friend Henrik perform an unexpected act that takes the plot to the edge.

'The Island at the Edge of the Ocean' takes readers back in time, to a time when the islanders had no modern facilities such as electricity or telephones. Their daily lives were interspersed with an almost constant confrontation with the strong winds, the rains and the hard ocean currents.

It is a surprising and exciting story that takes readers to a fascinating area of the world within which unique culture, spectacular landscapes, authentic cuisine, whale hunting and unconventional lifestyles exist.

The plot raises questions about morality and friendship that is tested in moments of extreme crisis.

Hebrew version – and maybe also in Faroese at future?
Currently the book has only Hebrew version but hopefully will have a Faroese version in future.

On the Israeli media the reviews are highly positive as well of the Hebrew readers.

The book cover was painted by the Faroese painter Mr. Hilmar J. Højgaard.
